Meet Denise

Denise Scotti-Smith founded Mission Accomplished Consulting LLC in 2008 so that she could leverage her operations management and human resource expertise to help each client she serves to fulfill their mission. Since she spent a good amount of her career as a leader of operations, she understands the challenges businesses have as they navigate a landscape of regulatory compliance that is always changing. She is astute at assessing risks while implementing practical, pragmatic and cost-effective solutions to both ordinary and extraordinary workplace challenges.

Denise's Craft

Denise brings over twenty years of human resources experience to her craft. She provides expertise in all HR and risk management functions, including employment law and regulatory compliance (Affordable Care Act, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, Unemployment, Workers Compensation, OSHA/Safety, etc.) consultation, organizational design, workplace investigations, handbook and policy development, payroll, benefits administration, recruitment and retention efforts, management development and leadership and life coaching.

Denise Serves all Industries

Denise serves a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, federal contractors, healthcare, nonprofits, and retail. During her tenure with EPIC Long Island, a healthcare organization providing residential services for adults with developmental and psychiatric disabilities, she held various leadership roles ranging from front-line management to director-level positions. Denise had been commended by state and federal auditors for her role in advancing her organization toward a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) certification and was an active member of the statewide Workforce Development Committee whose purpose was to develop standards that would improve employee recruitment and retention of front-line healthcare service providers. Additionally, she received an award for her initiation and development of systems that cut operating costs and employee turnover while promoting a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement.

Education & Certifications

Upon graduating from Cornell University in 1995 with a BS in Human Services and a concentration in Program Planning and Development, Denise developed a passion and talent for addressing human resource challenges in the workplace. This passion motivated her to pursue an MS in Organizational Management, with a concentration in Human Resource Management, from St. Joseph's College, in Patchogue, NY, in 2003.

Denise's formal education and experience is complemented by her additional certifications and professional affiliations. She possesses a Professional of Human Resources Certificate (PHR) as well as a Human Resource Management Certificate from St. Joseph's College and the Human Resource Certification Institute(HRCI). Her active membership in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and SHRM Certified Practitioner Certificate (SHRM-CP) gives her access to the newest developments in the human resources field. She is a Certified Leadership & Executive Coach who received training from the World Coach Institute.

Leadership Experience

Denise currently serves as the Chairwoman of the Simpsonville Chamber of Commerce and is Chairwoman of the Advocacy / Legislative Committee, and an active member of the Five Forks Business Development Committee. Denise is proud to serve on the board of Battle Buddies of the Carolinas, an organization that provides service dogs to Veterans with PTSD.  She is motivated to be involved in serving the community by addressing quality of life issues for businesses and families. She also appreciates volunteering for Junior Achievement, which allows her to use her experience to teach school-age children how they can develop the soft and hard skills they will need for future success in the workplace.  Her past experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for the William Floyd Summit, a civic organization whose mission is to address community development and quality of life issues on a micro and macro level.

Results

Denise has a solid record of mitigating litigation risks, increasing retention and employee performance, as well as decreasing the costs of operations significantly. She is a team player with a history of leveraging employee conflict by using it to influence positive changes! She believes in identifying how success will be measured by her clients, and she commits to meeting those standards.

Denise and her husband Kevin reside in Greenville, SC with their two boys. Inspired by her husband's talent and passion for building and designing custom cabinetry, Denise and Kevin opened Kitchens of the South, in Hendersonville, NC.  Their collective entrepreneurial spirit gives way to an appreciation of the challenges of balancing family needs with business-ownership.  Denise channels that empathy to the benefit of all of her clients!

***Denise's operations management experience in the "nonprofit world" ranges from front-line management to director-level positions, supplemented by her experience in human resources administration. In the healthcare field, she's held many leadership positions serving people with developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders within both residential and day habitation facilities.  As an Assistant Director of Programming and Operations, she oversaw Intermediate Care Facilities and Individualized Residential Alternative programs for people needing 24-hour medical supervision and other services.  She directly supervised the medical staff, clinical staff, and front-line supervisors and has a solid history of facilitating diverse inter-disciplinary teams.

** * In addition to her experience in the private business sector, Denise has extensive experience working with agencies whose missions included addressing the needs of the homeless, substance abusers, and people with mental illness. She is confident that the mission can be accomplished despite budgetary restraints!
